I also have an under active thyroid and have tried a low calorie diet, and have lost weight. My aunt does the Atkins diet and she seem to loose weight on it ( and she also has an under active thyroid). I hope it helps. I think once you are stable at a normal level, then you will just have to try a little hard then other to loose the weight. Good Luck.

No, it will not work. Try a whole foods approach like South Beach Diet, only use it as a lifestyle, not just a diet. It makes you look great and FEEL great, too. Good luck to you!

I would take the somers diet over Atkins any day. My sis was on somers. All it is mostly is just keeping your carb meals separated from your fat and protein meals. Make sure they are healthy carbs (whole wheat pastas, breads,(no refined sugars) etc.) I believe Atkins eliminates most any carbs, good or bad. Just think on somers you can still have a grilled chicken salad with vinegar and oil, cheese and any thing else that is protein or fat. (don't put the croutons on though, its a carb). For a carb meal you can still have pasta with whole wheat noodles and sauce.(just with no meat) Good Luck

a couple years ago somebody tested the bioavailability of various supplements, and to everybody's suprise, Schiff came out first overall. That is who I buy mine from. They have gel caplets for some minerals that are otherwise sort of like... corn. some people digest most of the corn, other people just pass it through unchanged.

As for making your own dietary supplements: SOUP! Soup retains most of the vitamins in the water, and if you do it in a pressure cooker even more of them are made available to you, because some vitamins are locked up very well in the fiberous cells of plants. Tomatos, for instance, are a lot better for yu cooked than raw.

Pork soups are very high in B vitamins, especially thiamine. Veggie soups pretty much have everything else... add some slow release startches like barley or brown rice and you have about the healthiest food on the planet...

It is also cheap, and low-cal.

I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...

This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.

However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace dot com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards full. Now this doesn't mean you have to follow my foot steps but I've successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.

Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.

Jill:

I really hate to rain on your parade, but I doubt the product you purchased is authentic and because of that, I doubt it will do anything for you. The largest hoodia capsule currently available contains only 750mg of authentic hoodia gordonii. You don't say what brand you purchased or if that 1,200mg is in one capsule or two capsules, but either way, it's probably not authentic.

The majority of the hoodia diet pills on the market today are fake. One expert says the number of fake hoodia supplements could be as high as 80%! Only a small handful of companies are making authentic hoodia gordonii diet pills.

I've provided a link below to an article that outlines the 13 things to look for when you buy hoodia. Look over the criteria and compare it to the product you purchased. You'll be able to determine if the product you bought contains authentic hoodia gordonii or not.

As for your other question regardin, does hoodia work, it depends what you mean. All it does is suppress appetite. Despite the marketing hype, it does not burn fat or magically melt the weight away. It simply tricks the brain into thinking you are full. The idea is that if you feel full, you'll eat less. Thus, you'll lose weight.

So...does hoodia work to suppress appetite? For some people it does and for others it doesn't. Everyone responds differently to it. To give it a fair shot, however, you need to be taking a real hoodia gordonii diet pill and you need to be taking enough of it for at least 2 weeks as it can take that long to "kick in."

P.S. I noticed someone else replied to your question and recommended Desert Burn and Hoodoba. Those are two companies that actually make authentic hoodia gordonii. They are also the only two companies that produce a 750mg hoodia gordonii capsule - the largest available. If you're interested in learning more about them, I've provided a link below to full reviews of them.

Best of luck to you.

http://www.gordoniihoodia.net/hoodia-die...

Check out the above website for some information. I have used the brand Desert Burn for the past 5 days and I have definitely noticed a reduction in my appetite with zero side effects.

PS - Because the herb is not regulated by the FDA, about 90% of the brands on the market are fake or are not what they represent. After a lot of research, I believe you can trust either Desert Burn or Hoodoba.

It should work for you, as you're severely restricting your carbohydrates (7 calories/gram), and replacing them mostly with protein (4 calories/gram).

I do not recommend this diet. Even though it may be effective, you cut out fruits and vegetables, and increase your saturated fat intake.

It may be a quick fix for weight loss, but not so much for overall health.

Yes it actually will because I am actually underweight and I went on that diet because at the time my Chiropractor suggested it for my Fibromylagia and Chronic Fatigue. I felt better on it, but couldn't eat enough calories to help me keep on my weight. I had lost over 10 pounds in a short amount of time.

Hoodia is a succulent plant with sharp spines so it resembles a cactus. When eaten, it acts as an appetite suppressent.

My sister uses it and has lost a lot of weight. I'm thinking of getting some myself.
Good luck to you!

Just eat good food, fruit is a good thing to eat to detox in anycase, it's full of water and easy to digest.
Buy mint (fresh) and chop it to eat with the fruit- like melon and papaya, it's lovely.

No its bad.

Your body can detox while you eat quality nutritious food. There is no need to starve your body of the nutrients it needs.

Hoodia is another much repeated urban diet myth, there are hundreds. The problem also with substances like this, is that since they have no element of medical control there are no data sheets and no specific data on their effects on the foetus.
Although it is unlikely to be an issue absolute reassurance is not possible. Advise in future avoid quack remedies!

If you want to loose weight there is no substitute for simple diet and EXERCISE!

Hope:

Please keep in mind that I am no doctor here and I'm only providing this answer based on the research I've done on hoodia the past year.

For starters, your friend was smart to stop taking hoodia immediately because we don't know what the effects are on unborn children. That's why it's strongly advised that all pregnant and nursing women avoid hoodia supplements and any diet supplement of any kind.

Having said that, so long as your friend was taking authentic hoodia gordonii with no other ingredients in the product, I doubt there has been any harm done to the baby. Hoodia gordonii contains a molecule that tricks the brain into thinking you are full. The idea behind hoodia supplements is that if you feel full, you'll eat less. Thus, you'll lose weight.

So hoodia gordonii isn't a stimulant or anything "dangerous" like that to your friend or her baby. I suspect the concern with hoodia diet pills is that if the mother feels full and eats less, so will the baby. After all, what the mom eats and drinks, so does the baby. If mom isn't eating and drinking, neither is the baby.

As you know, babies need lots of food and water to grow and be healthy. You don't want to deprive them of their necessary food and water. That's why hoodia isn't a good thing to be taking when you are pregnant. Mom needs to eat - and needs to eat alot because she's eating for two;)

Once the baby is born, then tell your friend she can work on shedding any unwanted "baby fat" and at that time can consider hoodia gordonii. Until then, eat normally and keep the hoodia supplements on the shelf for now.

Best of luck to her.

I've tried loads of diets, and they don't work. Your best move is to click on this link. You get a free book that tells you about tons of diets (including the detox diets and acai berry diets) and all the dangers. I found it dead interesting. It gives you loads of facts and then you can make your own mind up which is the best way to lose weight.

if you eliminate all processed foods and simply eat fresh, preferably organic, fruits, veggies, and meat/eggs then your body will restore to its default settings(so to speak) and you will start cleansing.

deeper cleansing involves abstaining from solid food and drinking only fresh organic juice(you would need your own juicer for this). remember: 1 glass of fruit for every 2 glasses of veggie juice.

the deepest would be fasting from all calories. you would eat nothing and drink only water. 1 cup of purified for every 3 cups of distilled.

if you cleanse in this order i would do the natural food diet for 3-4 weeks. then juice cleanse for 3-4 days. return to your natural food diet for another 6 weeks. then water fast for 3-4 days.

if you do this you will feel awesome, lose weight, and look the best you ever have.

if you're serious you can email me with any questions and i will try to help you out
